Sophie was originally a Falmouth Quay Punt and was built and designed by W.E. Thomas in Falmouth, in 1892, then she was converted to a yacht in 1912, from gaff yawl in 1920 to cutter, then Bemudan in the 1940's. In 1946 a Morris petrol engine 948cc was installed. In length, she is a little over 32 feet long, with a beam of almost 10 feet. Her rig was returned to gaff cutter in 2006 during a major restoration started in 2001. Over the years she's raced and rallied a lot, winning Concours D'Elegance at the Royal Southern YC's Classic Regatta, during September 2016.
