Yacht Art and Collectable Seascapes by Mark Woollacott

Adding to your Art Portfolio

Maritime and seascape paintings have long been revered for their timeless elegance, historical significance, and emotional depth, making them a sought-after investment among collectors. Today, with the rise of luxury yacht ownership among celebrities, business executives, and high-net-worth individuals, the demand for exclusive sailing-related art has only intensified. A realistic maritime painting captures the essence of sailing, evoking deep emotions and personal memories of voyages, regattas, and coastal escapes. I have had the pleasure of collaborating with many yacht owners over the years and have experienced first-hand how the purchase of a painting can bring enormous personal meaning and happiness to the owner, as well as to their friends and family members, who also have that special affinity with sailing and the draw of the ocean.

How to Order Your Painting

Ordering is easy. Simply email me your contact details and let me know which painting you wish to purchase and I will email you an invoice so you can make your payment. It would be helpful if you could supply your full name, address and delivery address (if it is different from your home address) email address and telephone number — these details will have to go on the invoice. I will also have to provide this information to the delivery courier, who will require this information from me in order to deliver the artwork to you.

PLEASE NOTE: because I mostly sell art to customers with a valid delivery address within the United Kingdom, my delivery costs are calculated for UK customers.

markwoollacott.com does not and will not pass on information to mailing list companies or other third parties. The complete respect for my visitors' privacy is extremely important as I want visitors to enjoy visiting markwoollacott.com and hope that they will visit this site again in the future and recommend my artwork to their friends and to others they know.

At markwoollacott.com customers can order in complete confidence. No financial or personal information belonging to the customer is stored on this website and all information that is disclosed to me after the ordering process (i.e. the customer's name, postal address and email address) is always protected.

Keeping You Informed Throughout the Whole Process

I will email you to inform you when I have received your payment and will email you again when I have mailed the painting to you and will provide you with an estimated delivery date and a delivery tracking reference number, so you will be able to track the painting on the courier's website. Please bear in mind that as an independent full time professional artist, I may be busy working in my studio during the day, or I may be out giving an artist's talk, organizing an art workshop somewhere, attending an important exhibition, so I may not always be able to email you immediately. If you don't hear anything straight away from me, please be assured I will get back to you as soon as I am able to check my email notifications; which is usually within 24 hours of receiving any notifications.

Delivery Information

All of my paintings are packaged securely and all contents are photographed and documented during the packing process. Artworks are mailed to UK customers using the Royal Mail or Parcelforce Express delivery tracking postal service.

All UK orders are packaged and delivered (using a tracking service) within fourteen working days. Any painting ordered may require a signature on receipt of delivery. All paintings are tracked and mailed from within the United Kingdom. If the painting should be lost or damaged in transit, please let me know promptly, by email, at: info@markwoollacott.com.

NOTE: To avoid any potential confusion in communication, all email correspondence between any buyer and markwoollacott.com, must be typed in English and not in any other language. If you are using an online-based program to translate any text, you must ensure that the translation is accurate. Thank you.

IMPORTANT! Please do not use a PO Box address as your delivery address, as parcels cannot always be accepted when they are delivered to such an address, and consequently you may not receive the parcel if the delivery office (where your PO box address is located) decides not to accept it and instead asks the courier to return the parcel. I cannot mail any artworks to PO Box addresses. Please use your full home address instead.

Cancellations and Returns

You can cancel your order within fourteen days of receiving your painting, but you must contact me by email (at: info@markwoollacott.com) within those fourteen days in order for a refund to be processed. Once you have informed me that you want to return the painting, you then have up to fourteen days in which you must return the painting to me in its original packaging (at a delivery address that I will supply for you by email).

You must return the painting and its certificate of authenticity to me at your own expense, which must be packaged using the original packaging to completely protect the painting against damage in transit. Once I have received the painting in its original, undamaged condition, I will refund you (less the restocking fee: see below for information on restocking fee) within fourteen days of the date I received the returned painting.

You don’t have to provide a reason as to why you wish to cancel the order, but it would prove helpful if you could give me a brief description, as I am always ready to provide helpful support in order to achieve the best possible service I can to you as an independent artist. In buying a painting from this website, you are entering into a contact in which you are paying for goods (a painting) from me, the seller.

You have the right to withdraw from the contract within the fourteen day cooling-off period. After owning the painting for more than fourteen days, you can no longer return the painting or request a refund.

Restocking Fee

A restocking fee is a charge deducted from a refund when a returned item requires processing, typically ranging from 10% to 25% of the purchase price. A restocking fee is a cost imposed by retailers when a customer returns a product. It is designed to cover the expenses associated with processing the return, such as inspecting the item, repackaging, updating inventory, and handling potential damages or devaluation of the product. This fee is usually expressed as a percentage of the original purchase price, commonly between 10% and 25%, though it can vary depending on the retailer, product type, and condition of the returned item. PLEASE NOTE: at markwoollacott.com the restocking fee is 10% of the value of the painting. This will be deducted from any refund due to you.

Owning an Artwork: What 'Rights' Do You Own?

Click here for helpful information about rights...

Buying a painting is a huge experience for many, one that is rewarding in terms of acquiring something of beauty that no-one else owns and also in terms of personal investment; but do you know what rights you own once you have purchased the artwork?

How to Look After Your Painting

It is important to hang and display your painting in the best place and to look after it. Please remember that paintings should not be placed or displayed close to a source of heat, such as a radiator or strong halogen lights, and should not be hung for long periods on a cold or damp wall or stored without any protection in a place, such as a draughty loft or a garage, where dust is likely to settle on it and where it is likely to be exposed to increased heat in the summer months and colder temperatures during the winter months. It's good practice to remove the painting from the wall (or place of storage) occasionally, when you give the painting and its frame a routine and careful dusting, as it allows air to circulate around the back of the painting. It's important to do this every once in a while, or else tiny spots of mould might develop on the rear of the canvas, panel or canvas board, especially if you keep your painting in the same place for months on end and your walls are cold and damp.

Regarding the storage of your painting. When not on display, it is always best to store paintings upright (not leaning) in an environment where the temperature and humidity is fairly constant and not liable to fluctuate to extremes. If a painting is displayed, stored and looked after properly, it will remain in excellent condition. If your canvas is affected by the humidity in your home and begins to show signs of sagging or rippling, then this can easily be fixed by carefully placing the painting picture-side down on a soft, clean sheet or cloth, on the floor, and lightly tapping the small wooden wedges further into the wooden stretcher bars with a hammer. The wedges are located on the wooden stretcher bars on the rear of the canvas, in the corners. Lightly tap every wooden wedge two to three times, so the tension in the canvas becomes evenly tightened.

As oil paintings do not require glass protecting their painted surfaces, it is recommended to prevent dust from settling and accumulating on the surface of your painting by removing it with an inexpensive squeezy dust blower (the kind photographers use to remove dust from their camera lenses) at least once every two months. This will ensure your painting will remain in good condition. Alternatively, you can use a soft brush, or a lint-free anti-static cloth for cleaning the surface of the painting and the frame (which is prone to being touched more than the painting's surface and therefore susceptible to fingerprints); but do not rub too hard and do not clean the painting with a paper towel or a sponge; and do not place any water on the wooden stretcher bars, as the moisture may cause them to warp.

Do not clean or wipe dust from the painting with your bare hands, as your hands contain natural oils which will transfer to the painting's surface and any marks will colour over time.
