High Quality Yacht Paintings and Art Prints
This page brings together a collection of my favourite boat paintings inspired by the many famous yacht races that take place in Britain and further afield. People who love to sail understandably become very attached to their vessels. It is not a mere whim that they choose this lifestyle, it goes much further. An inner compulsion to experience the wind, the light, the water, the motion, the camaraderie and the journey that it eventually leads to, all combine into moments of fulfilment that are never lost, in heart nor memory.
Though I am not a sailor, each piece I create is inspired by my love for the sea: the shifting light on the water, the moods of the weather, the timeless beauty of yachts and coastlines. Knowing that you have spent some of your valuable time exploring my work means more to me than words can say. Thank you for taking the time to look at my paintings. I hope you enjoy them.

Yacht Racing During Cowes Week, Isle of Wight, 2012
Original | SOLD
This painting captures the vibrant energy of one of the many races that make up Cowes Week, the world-famous sailing regatta held each year off the Isle of Wight. The scene is alive with light, colour and motion, as yachts converge on the Solent in a spirited display of skill, competition, and tradition.
Featured in the painting are several distinctive boats, each with its own character and story. Fever Glenfiddich, a sleek Class 5 IRC J/97 design (GBR9197R), cuts confidently through the fleet. Nearby sails Italia, an elegant 12 Metre Class Zero IRC carbon-fibre yacht (ITA-7), launched in 1990 and built for both speed and grace. The dependable Marta (GBR6388T), a Sigma 38 one-design renowned for its ability to handle demanding offshore conditions, is shown racing alongside Quatrosolutions Panda Nova II (GBR8275), another accomplished Sigma 38 Class yacht.
The painting celebrates not only the beauty of these yachts but also the competitive spirit of Cowes Week, with Fever Glenfiddich going on to win IRC Class 5 once again and secure second place in the Black Group. It is a snapshot of sailing at its finest — dynamic, challenging, and rich in maritime tradition.

Hugo Boss Open 60 Racing Monohull
Original | SOLD
This dramatic painting captures the IMOCA Open 60 HUGO BOSS (GBR99) charging through the waters of the Isle of Wight during the 2013 Round the Island Race. Alive with motion, the boat surges forward with unmistakable authority, embodying the cutting edge of modern ocean racing.
Built in 2009 and first launched on 18 May 2010, HUGO BOSS is a formidable example of the 60-foot monohull class — among the fastest and most advanced racing boats afloat. Crafted from high-tech composite materials, these boats are engineered to be exceptionally light for maximum speed, yet strong enough to endure the harshest conditions the open sea can deliver.
This painting celebrates this balance of power and precision, capturing the tension between wind, water, and design. It is a portrait of speed, resilience, and modern maritime ambition, inviting the viewer to feel the rush of racing at the very edge of possibility.

Original | SOLD
This painting captures the electrifying clash between Land Rover BAR and Oracle Team USA during the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series in Portsmouth, 2016. Two elite racing catamarans skim across the water, locked in a high-speed duel just offshore, their foils lifting them clear of the waves as spray and tension fill the air.

Sleek hulls, towering wingsails, and perfectly choreographed crews combine to create a fast-paced spectacle of skill and cutting-edge technology. It is a celebration of modern yacht racing at its most intense, where power, finesse, and innovation meet on the waters of Portsmouth.

Sophie, Round The Island Race, 2016
Original | Available
Explore this exceptional painting of the classic 1892 Falmouth punt Sophie, racing in the 2016 Round the Island Race. This artwork celebrates British coastal heritage with refined realism. The composition captures the dynamic interplay of light, motion, and tradition, presenting Sophie not only as a maritime subject but as a symbol of enduring craftsmanship. Ideal for collectors who value nautical history and contemporary mastery, this painting stands as both a tribute and an investment in Britain's maritime legacy.
Sophie was converted from a Falmouth Quay Punt to a yacht in 1912, from a gaff yawl to a cutter in 1920 and was then given a Bermudan rig in the 1940's. Her rig was returned to gaff cutter in 2006 during a major restoration started in 2001. She was built in 1892 by W.E. Thomas.

Round The Island Race, Isle of Wight, 2012
Original | No Longer Available
This marine painting captures the drama and exhilaration of boats battling their way around the Isle of Wight during the Round the Island Race. Powerful winds ruled the day, shaping the story of the race and forcing organisers to withdraw more than seventy competitors. Smaller-class vessels were retired even before the starting signal, as the breeze continued to build. A further thirty teams chose to bow out early, humbled by the demanding conditions at sea.
Cutting through the waves to claim first place at Cowes was the French trimaran Actual. In its 81st year, the Round the Island Race drew an impressive fleet of 1,647 boats across 25 classes, yet only 1,198 managed to reach the finish line before the 10 pm deadline — a testament to the power of wind, water, and endurance.

Tug
Original | SOLD
This painting lingers on the quiet dignity of an old River Thames tug, now resting at Bideford Quay. The hull is rich with texture and history — layers of rust, weathered paint, and deep tones telling stories of hard work and long journeys. Against this, the surrounding water lies calm and pale, almost featureless, its soft stillness gently contrasting with the rugged patina of the tug, allowing the vessel's character and age-worn beauty to take centre stage.

Meticulously rebuilt in 2005 and sensitively refitted in 2011, her classic character has been carefully preserved. This painting captures Coral of Cowes once more under sail, taking part in the 2013 Round the Island Race — a schooner still writing her story on familiar waters.

This boat was built in the UK and I am quite sentimental about that aspect of our maritime heritage. I think it only fitting that this artwork remains in the UK. I have had the painting displayed on my walls, at home, and have enjoyed it for many years. But now I am happy to let her go to another British home, where someone else can now enjoy and appreciate my artistic depiction of this famous boat.

Rainbow and Ranger J Class Racing Yachts
Original | No Longer Available
My maritime painting featuring Rainbow and Ranger celebrates the elegance and quiet power of two legendary J Class vessels cutting through open water. Rainbow commands the foreground, her sleek side profile stretched gracefully across the canvas, sails full and confident in the wind. In the distance, J5 Ranger follows with equal poise, her towering rig and refined lines adding depth and drama to the scene. There's a wonderful sense of movement and rivalry between them, yet also harmony — the sea carrying both yachts with effortless rhythm. The play of light on canvas and water brings out their craftsmanship and grandeur, capturing not just a race, but a timeless moment of maritime beauty and sporting history.

Extreme Sailing Series Cardiff, 2014
Original | No Longer Available
Set in the heart of Cardiff harbour, a fleet of elite international racing catamarans lies moored, their sharp lines and towering wingsails hinting at the explosive speed they unleash once back on the water. Even at rest, there's an undeniable energy in the scene — a quiet tension, as if the boats themselves are poised to spring forward at any second. Inspired by the thrilling atmosphere of the Extreme Sailing Series, the painting reflects the spirit of this fast-paced sport — precision, teamwork, and daring skill. The harbour setting adds contrast and character, blending the stillness of dockside reflections with the anticipation of high-performance racing about to erupt once more.

J Class Yacht Lionheart
Original | No Longer Available
My maritime painting J Class Yacht Lionheart captures a thrilling, close-up encounter with one of sailing's modern legends. Lionheart surges past the viewer side-on, so near you can almost hear the creaking and feel the pull of the wind in her mainsail and foresail, both stretched taut and powerful. There's a wonderful sense of speed and grace in her long, sweeping lines, as though she's carving her path straight through the canvas. Far off in the soft glow of a summer haze, Velsheda and Ranger linger delicately on the horizon, almost dissolving into light and distance yet still quietly present. Their faint silhouettes add depth and atmosphere, creating a feeling of scale and heritage — a fleeting regatta moment where past and present glide together across a sunlit sea. I watched them race around Falmouth Harbour, in June 2015, following the fleet in a spectating rib. This scene was inspired by one of the races I witnessed.
